- Jira Cloud
Configaze installation
- Jira
- Compare
- Data controls
- Delete all history
- Scan
- Workflow、Screen、Field context、Field configuration、Scheme、Permission
Custom Field Scan
Access denied
Scan

Configaze lets Jira administrators manually save custom field snapshots and review differences between saved checkpoints. It is a read-only history tool, not continuous monitoring or a configuration management platform.
Requirements and access
- Jira Cloud
- An active Configaze installation
- Jira administrator permission
Open Configaze from Jira settings → Apps → Configaze: Custom Field History. Server-side authorization denies access when the signed-in user is not a Jira administrator.
Save the first snapshot
- Open Configaze from Jira settings.
- Optionally enter a Snapshot name and Note. Do not enter secrets or personal information.
- Select Scan now.
- The first successful scan becomes the baseline for that history chain.
A scan reads Jira custom fields as the current administrator. It does not modify Jira configuration.
Review recent changes
Run another manual scan after a configuration change. Changes since previous scan shows added, modified, and removed fields between the two latest snapshots. Snapshot history retains up to 30 snapshots, newest first.
Select View changes beside a snapshot to compare that checkpoint with its immediately previous checkpoint.
Compare two checkpoints
- Under Compare checkpoints, choose an older Base.
- Choose a newer Target from the same history chain.
- Select Compare.
The comparison is derived on request and is not stored as a separate snapshot record. It shows change type, Jira field ID and name, and supported before/after attribute values.
Export a comparison
After comparing two checkpoints, use the displayed file cards to download CSV or JSON. The file is created in the Forge UI only when requested and saved to the current device. Review the destination and your organization's handling rules before sharing it.
An export can contain field names, descriptions, schema values, and checkpoint names. It does not include snapshot notes, Atlassian account IDs, history-chain IDs, or internal storage keys.
Administrator handover
If a different Jira administrator created the existing history, Configaze keeps that history read-only and asks the new administrator to review creation of a separate baseline. Starting a new baseline does not delete earlier history, but snapshots from different history chains cannot be compared.
Delete all history
- Open Data controls.
- Select Delete all history.
- Review the warning and confirm Delete all history.
Deletion is permanent. If Forge storage verification is still pending, wait at least one minute and select Retry deletion. The next scan after deletion becomes a new baseline.
Detection scope and limitations
Detected between two saved scans
- Custom field additions and removals, identified by Jira field ID
- Name and description changes
- Supported schema type, items, and custom type changes
Not detected
- The time, actor, or number of changes made between scans
- A change that is reverted before the next scan
- Workflows, screens, field contexts, field configurations, schemes, permissions, or other Jira configuration
- Continuous audit events or unattended scheduled custom field scans
Configaze does not migrate, deploy, modify, restore, or roll back Jira configuration. It is not a replacement for the Jira audit log.
Data handling
Snapshot data is stored in Atlassian Forge hosted storage for the app installation. Configaze has no external app server, external database, or app data egress. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Troubleshooting
Access denied
Confirm that the current Atlassian account has Jira administrator permission. Project administrator permission alone is not sufficient.
Scan is unavailable
Resolve any administrator-handover prompt or pending history deletion first. Refresh the page and try again once.
Expected change is missing
Confirm that the change concerns a supported custom field attribute and occurred between two successful manual scans. Changes reverted before the next scan cannot be detected.
