Fitbridge Sync sales and service discontinuation
Published: September 21, 2026 / Updated: September 21, 2026
Fitbit API

Changes to the external API and platform environment surrounding Fitbit and Google Health have made it difficult to continue providing a reliable sync service. New Pro sales have been stopped. The final update (1.3.4) also removed in-app purchase options. We plan to end development and support for online sync features on October 31, 2026.
Why we made this decision
As Fitbit's service platform moves to Google, we have been developing a migration from the legacy Fitbit API to the Google Health API. However, continued public access to the restricted OAuth scopes required for Google Health data involves both Google's verification process and a security assessment by a Google-recognized third-party assessor.
Google states that this security assessment must be repeated every 12 months. The Basic plan from TAC Security, the assessor available for this project, is listed at US$675 per application per year. This is not a Google API usage fee; it is a fee paid to a third-party assessor to satisfy the verification requirement.
In addition to that annual cost, the app requires ongoing review work, adaptation to platform changes, sync-quality testing, and maintenance. At the app's current usage and revenue level, it is not sustainable for an independent developer to absorb these obligations while continuing to operate the service responsibly.
Google Health's official iOS app also began providing a way in August 2026 to share supported Fitbit and Google Health data, including steps, exercise, vitals, and sleep, directly with Apple Health. The emergence of an official solution for the problem Fitbridge Sync was originally built to address was another factor in this decision.
Schedule
- September 21, 2026
- New sales of the lifetime Pro unlock have stopped. The final update (1.3.4) removed in-app Pro and Supporter purchase options.
- September 22, 2026
- Monthly Supporter was removed from sale on the App Store. New purchases and renewals of existing subscriptions are no longer available.
- October 31, 2026
- Development, incident response, and support for online sync through Fitbit and Google Health are scheduled to end.
Depending on the availability of external services such as the Fitbit API, online sync may become unavailable before this date.
For existing purchasers
- Your existing Pro entitlement is not automatically revoked by this announcement.
- Existing Supporter subscriptions will not renew. We will continue to provide service through the end of each paid billing period. You can check your subscription in App Store subscription settings.
- Health data already saved to Apple Health remains in Apple Health and is not deleted when Fitbridge Sync sales end.
- You may be able to redownload the app from your purchase history while Apple continues to make it available. Sync that depends on external APIs cannot be guaranteed.
Future sync option
Google Health provides an official option to write supported data, including steps, sleep, and heart rate, directly to Apple Health. Please consider using Google Health's official Apple Health connection.
Sync Google Health data to Apple HealthRefunds
Sales discontinuation does not trigger automatic refunds. Apple manages App Store purchases and determines refund eligibility. For an individual purchase issue, use Apple's Report a Problem service.
Thank you for using Fitbridge Sync. Any changes to the schedule or final update will be posted on this page.
